Where have both of you been? You have always needed to pay something extra for real Premier League access, first for Gold and then Peacock. People love watching the PL so they don’t realize yet, but NBC is basically Fox – they buy top tier rights and then make us wish someone else bought them instead. I have no idea why Goal Rush wouldn’t be on this week, it’s on the guide for Australia and Singapore broadcasters, but that’s classic NBC isn’t it. Maybe I’m just annoyed that CBS managed to get Thierry Henry and stream every game for the UCL, while NBC is offering up the two Robbies for the 8th year and making you flip between cable and an app at random intervals. Short of hiring Alexi Lalas I’m not sure they can regress, they aren’t great at anything now and only add a layer of complexity and cost to getting the games. I don’t think they will regress, but I’m not sure there is really room to regress – it’s not like they have big name commentators to lose, it’s not like Peacock is great, its not like they have other sports to focus on. They probably overpaid for the EPL and are just coming around to that realization. NBC is pulling a FOX, they will cut costs to save money and start rearranging games to try to get more money.

Pretty clear Comcast are going to make things as difficult as possible again this year – they seem to be removing games from Telemundo (god forbid we get sick of NBC ripping us off and watch for free OTA in Spanish). Arsenal are on USA this week, I have cable, but no option to watch Arsenal on Peacock in 60fps. Cable is a ripoff I say this all the time but now that Peacock is 60fps, its much better quality than USA. It really shouldn’t be hard ESPN has been able to do this for years now. Just give me an option to login with my cable and peacock accounts, and then give me one stream with the pregame commentary, match, postgame commentary and automatically start the stream for the next match. This is by far the most obnoxious thing about peacock – half the games seem to have no commentary, you are flipping back and forth from peacock to cable since NBC randomly throws matches in the most inconvenient location. Let’s see if Comcast have included a cable login this year.
